Minutes 9/5/07

SIFE minutes for September 5th, 2007 New Projects
Fashion Show with Business Outfits to benefit battered or unfortunate women in the professional world
o Collect clothes
o Dress for success? Work with them or contact for help
Anti Piracy Campaign
o Each year there is a video contest, with the team that best displays the damages piracy causes within their video winning a prize of 5000 dollars.
Volunteering in Developing Countries
o From January 3rd to January 10th, Estimated cost 1300-1400 dollars
o We would work on developing the market in poor areas
o These are the projects SIFE teams win with!

Academy on Capitalism and Limited Government
o New this year, on September 27th Steve Forbes will be coming to speak, and 20 volunteers are needed
Toners
o This could be expanded this year by going to companies and doing energy audits
o At Illinois State University, they take the trash in the cafeteria and use worms to turn that trash into soil, which they eventually sell
Recycling at the Bars
o The bars let so many glass bottles go the compost, if we could organize a way to get them to recycle that glass we could make a huge impact!
o This would also generate publicity for the Bars (and us), so they would be motivated to act
Youth Works Project
o Benefit youth in the Champaign Urbana Community
o We need more information
Fundraiser: Better World Books
o 50 cents for each donated book
o They need to be for children 5 years and younger
o They are donated to needy children in poor countries such as South America or Asia Student Senate Collaboration: Interviewing Saturday!
o On one Saturday, a copious number of businesses come and people would be interviewing the entire day!
Student Senate Collaboration: Golder Center for Private Equity
o New on Campus, and wondering what to do?
o They are studying on how universities make use of endowments

Newsletter
o Have companies or students write in a column telling about ethical dilemmas they have faced in the real world�
o Also contact KPMG - how to make ethical decisions
Pod casts or putting videos of classroom lessons would greatly increase the number of people we impact- making us look better at regionals!

Toner Project 1. Office Max will give $3 per toner but we will receive the money in the form of an Office Max gift certificate 2. In the future, we will try to collect the toners from all the colleges at the University of Illinois 3. We also need to decide where the proceeds will go Website 1. Emergency Meeting Minutes

The Academy of Capital and Limited Government with Steve Forbes and Robert Novak is coming up on the 27th, we need volunteers. Those who have already signed up will receive reminders by e-mail
The applications for the trip to Croatia are due in 420 DKH by 5pm Tomorrow at 5! Make sure you take your time and remember to include your resume!
